Top tips for motivating your team to do a better job
• Choice 1:
What do you really want to achieve? Be clear in your mind about the improvements you want your team to make. How do you expect them to achieve them?
• Choice 2:
What’s in it for each team member to make the changes you want? Consider what motivates them and what they would need to do differently to do this job better.
• Choice 3:
Spend time with each team member. Communicate your goal but with the benefits they are likely to gain. Listen to their concerns and actively find solutions.
• Choice 4:
Practice what you preach and don’t command what you wouldn’t be prepared to do. Give support during implementation. Reward as promised when there’s success.
