Transbay Transit Center, San Francisco

An ambitious plan to centralise transportation in San Francisco will now go ahead after a £110m loan deal was approved. Phase one of the £775m Transbay Transit Center – which will eventually house nine transportation systems under one roof – is set to be completed in 2014.

The design will include an elevated park, 20m above street level, to hide the inner workings of the terminal. To see a video of the project, click here

PwC, London
PricewaterhouseCooper’s striking new headquarters at the More London site on the South Bank has become the first major office in Britain to be awarded an ‘outstanding’ BREEAM rating.

About 25% of the 48,000 sq m building’s energy will be produced on site, using a variety of energy generation techniques, including solar panels and even recycled cooking oil for fuel.

The building, which will be ready for its 5,500 workers early next year, was designed by Foster + Partners and BDP, with project management from Turner & Townsend.

Kidbrooke, London
Phase two of a £1bn regeneration of the dilapidated Ferrier Estate in Kidbrooke, south east London, has been approved by Greenwich Council. Over the next 10 years the scheme will create a community of 4,000 new mixed-tenure homes, retail and commercial space, a new school, healthcare and leisure facilities, and a new transport interchange.

It is one of the largest residential regeneration schemes in Europe and will be delivered by a partnership between Greenwich Council, Berkeley Homes, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Southern Housing Group.
