One of the largest hospitals ever commissioned in the UK, the New South Glasgow Hospital Campus, will comprise a 1,100-bed adult hospital, a 240-bed children’s hospital, laboratories and support accommodation.

The super hospital, designed by Nightingale Associates as part of the Brookfield Constructions UK consortium, will cover 170,000 sq m and will be one of the largest health campuses in Europe upon completion in 2015.

“One of the main design features is the integration of the adult and the children’s hospitals,” said Neil Murphy, principal of Nightingale Associates’ London studio.

Sustainability is also a key element of the building’s design, with low carbon emissions requirements and an aim for
a ‘very good’ BREEAM rating.
