What is your current job?
I am managing director for Integra Realty Resources De Mexico, in charge of all Mexico and international operations.

What does your job involve?
Everything involving valuation. We are not a large office, so to remain competitive our staff has to be multidisciplinary. I take care of marketing, line up the teams and strategies to follow during the course of an assignment, assuming myself a good share of the duties
and responsibilities, and overseeing that
the rest of the team follows the paths and agendas traced. In other words, I get to direct the orchestra, but at the same time I play several instruments.

What is the most interesting aspect of
your job?
To plan how a large assignment should be approached and to organise and direct the team that will participate in the assignment.

And the most challenging?
To never cease to improve the work produced by our office. No matter how many times we have done a similar job before, I believe it can be done better the next time. The day our team stops seeking to do our job better, we would become stale and lose competitiveness.

Another challenge is to get reliable rental or sales information in Mexico. This information is just not available publicly. Thus, we have to work very hard in the research and discovery process.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in property?
Aside from my special interest in architecture, I find the dynamics of real estate fascinating. Real estate never stays still and its relation and influences from and with the local and world’s economies drives it to be in constant motion.

How did you get to this point in your career?
Our group was invited to become associated with Integra Realty Resources about eight years ago. It was a great opportunity for us. Personally I saw this as a great opening of a new professional goal.

What is your greatest professional
achievement to date?
I am especially proud of my current role and to have had our company distinguished by the selection of world class clients to do the valuations of their portfolios in Mexico.

What project has given you the greatest satisfaction to date?
To complete the valuation of a new mixed-use complex in Novgorod, Russia. The valuation assignment went flawlessly and the research and support work done by the Russian RICS team was outstanding.

What’s your favourite building?
The Palace of Fine Arts, which is also the Opera House in Mexico City. Overseas, I favour the Doge’s Palace in Venice.
